We often hear of the term, a writer’s block. When you’ve lost someone dear to you, you might not experience a writer’s block as there’s so much you want to say. You just don’t know how to start or struggle to put pen to paper. We understand it can be very overwhelming.
We can add a uniquely caring element to your service, and that is a written tribute. This can be a eulogy about your loved one, as well as a short reading to express your thoughts, feelings and emotions rather than to simply convey information. This is what creative writing is all about, and it is an of art communication. Which is why we are working together with Red Pocket, a communications agency to help you put your thoughts to paper, as well as voicing your tributes, literally. Red Pocket can also help you with video tributes, service programs and prayer cards to include a favourite photo and a short eulogy abstract. Did you know, 43% of Australians have at least one overseas-born parent? (ABS Census, 2011). Many people from a non-English speaking background want to see the use of their home language continue in Australia. Mainly for reasons of cultural continuity and identity. These statistics and social trends was realised back in 1999 from a research published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. If that was then, it all makes senses why we seeing an increasing demand for bilingual celebrant services. First generation Australians* realise that many second generation Australians^ may not proficiently speak the mother tongue. However, cultural roots and awareness is respected in the family, because continuation of cultural identity matters to them. The language shift we see, is where the cultural language is gradually being replaced with english in the second generation. Therefore, a bilingual funeral celebrant is useful in this respects. The funeral celebrant must be able to make sense of the associated rituals, customs and religions. We think that the bilingual bridging and cultural understanding by a celebrant is even more important on such occasions.
